We welcome you to the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at Korea University.

The Department of Semiconductor Engineering at Korea University was established in 2020 and received its first freshmen in March 2021 with an objective to nurture the best talent in the semiconductor field that has been the basis of the Korean industry and will serve as our future food.

This is an important time for Korea to take a leading step in the semiconductor field to become a leading country in the world. Its success depends on how well people, that is to say, excellent talent is nurtured. Accordingly, SK Hynix and Korea University agreed to nurture professional manpower in the field of semiconductors evenly equipped with practical business knowledge about semiconductors, creative problem-solving ability, and global leadership capability.

The Department of Semiconductor Engineering provides in-depth education related to the basic majors in the semiconductor field such as semiconductor design, device, process, system, and software, as well as theoretical education and practical training related to multidisciplinary convergence majors covering artificial intelligence and data science based on such basic majors. In particular, we also provide students with chances to improve their self-directed engineering capability to set up and solve problems on their own through the reinforcement of experiments and practical exercises. In addition, we will nurture creative talent equipped with practical business experience by letting our best professor team and an SK Hynix working group provide differentiated education such as the curriculum developed jointly with SK Hynix, industrial internships, field practice, and overseas training.

Not only the best talent nurtured through the Department of Semiconductor Engineering will become members of SK Hynix after graduating from the department but also the students who wish to carry out in-depth research on innovative semiconductor technologies will be provided with unstinted support for entry to a linked course of master and doctoral degrees.

Being equipped with a differentiated professor group, curriculum, and infrastructure, the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at Korea University is waiting for you who will become leaders in the future, which is the fourth industrial revolution era, an era of convergence.
